Emma Ross | Dunlap High School Class of 2020 senior

November 5, 2019

Getting to know this hazel eyed, curly-haired, bubbly, love-able, perky, can’t help but smile when you meet her, senior has been a highlight of my year! If I tried really hard not to hide my face to prevent smiling when I thought of Emma, it would hurt me, because you see… it’s impossible!!    #truestory.

Enma also has goals to make other smile!  She loves hanging out with friends and keeps an optimistic mindset about life.  This year she is looking forward to doing everything for the last time and making the most of it. “I’m also looking forward to going on more college visits and deciding where my future takes me. I want to major in International Business.”

Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Iadapolo because she is so inclusive in her classroom and Spanish is one of my favorite classes because of her.  AP Psych is my favorite class because the brain has always fascinated her.  “To know how and why people think certain things is so incredibly amazing and each day is a new fun topic in that class.”   In school, Emma participates in Dance Team, Speech Team, Student Council, Future Business Leaders of America, and National Honor’s Society. She also works at Sweet Cece’s and volunteers with the National Honor Society.  Emma’s hobbies include painting in the park and traveling and exploring new things!  Her advice to incoming freshman – “Stay true to yourself. It’s easy to get caught up in trying to be mature and make new friends, but remember to keep your own personality and not let other people dull your shine.”

Three things on my bucket list: 1. Skydiving 2. Visit all 7 continents 3. Lean how to snowboard

“I am most proud of myself when I went to State for my speech performance Freshman year of High School. All of the seniors and I had a fun time walking around the civic center and competing and everyone kept coming up to me and congratulating me on being so young at such an important competition. When they called my name for who made it to State I couldn’t believe it and I think I cried a lot when I got home because I was so proud of myself for pushing and working hard.”

FOOD and FAMILY:

  1. What’s the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten? Snails or Duck Liver
  2. If I could eat only one meal for the rest of my life, it would be Poppy Seed Chicken
  3. I love to eat pizza with my ranch!
  4. Favorite holiday traditions: Making lots of different cookies and decorating them all for my aunts house before Christmas. It’s never said out loud, but me and my sister compete to decorate the best cookies because my mom only picks about half to go to my aunts and the other half stays at home to give to Santa.
  5. My hero is my mom because she is always so compassionate and caring to others. She treats every person with respect and I want to be just like her.
  6. My favorite family trip was to Aruba because the beach was so lovely. Me and my sister had a fun time exploring the beach and finding all types of different lizards. My family even got lost while trying to four-wheel all over the island.
  7. Favorite family recipe – Chocolate Chip Cookies because me and my grandma would always make them when I was little. She would always add a cap full of vanilla and claim it was her secret ingredient. I remember once telling my friend that vanilla was a secret ingredient and she laughed because it was in every recipe.
  8. The best thing about my mom and dad is how much they care about me. They really are the world’s best parents because they love me unconditionally. Sometimes I take them for granted, but as I’ve grown up I’m glad to have them in my life.
  9. My favorite childhood memory is going up to my grandparents house all the time and making cookies, sewing with my grandma, and playing on the jungle gym with my cousins in the summer.

RANDOM:

  1. Favorite singers: Tyler the Creator, Post Malone, Shawn Mendes, Khalid, Wallows, Greta Van Fleet, and AJR
  2. Most daring thing ever done – parasailing in Florida on a windy day
  3. My favorite school event is football games because all of the students are so hyped and excited to watch and support the football players. I also love all of the crazy themes and fun chants during the games. Home games I have to sit with the dance team and preform, but I love everyone’s reaction to our routines every week.
  4. Favorite holiday: Halloween
  5. What’s your favorite color to wear?  Purple. I love how many different shades it has while still being pretty. Lavender is beautiful but I also like dark purple.
  6. What’s your usual school style? I usually wear jeans and a nice shirt. I like to wear my white vans or Birkenstock. I shower everyday before school so I can keep my hair curly and I put on some mascara and highlight for my everyday makeup.
  7. What are your favorite clothing stores to shop at? American Eagle, Pacific Sun, Dry Goods, H&M
  8. Why did you choose Shelby Photography for your senior portraits photographer? I chose Shelby Photography because all of the photos online have a fun and creative vibe. Every time someone is featured on the Instagram page they look like they are having the time of their life. I wanted to be able to be that happy about getting my pictures taken!
