Alli Hoekstra | Streator Township High School Class of 2020

November 17, 2019

Meet Alli Hoekstra, Class of 2020 senior from Streator Township High School!  I love her school’s representation as a Shelby Senior and I’m blessed that she commits to coming such a long way to participate in all of our fun themed sessions throughout the year.  I had the opportunity to go to Streator for her senior pictures and loved capturing this beauty in her hometown too!

I remember Alli very well from the very start.. she was confident and strong and wasn’t afraid to put herself “out there” so that she could get to know all of the other girls during our very first ice-breaker meeting.   I always smile when I think of her positive attitude and I’m not going to lie, she is a favorite to photograph!

After high school, Allie plans on attending Bradley University to study Social Work.  She loves to dance as Streatorette on her school dance team, participates in Snowball, and enjoys cheering her team on at football and basketball games. Outside of school, Allie helps teach Sunday school at her church and works at her family’s pizza place in Pontiac. Her hobbies include watching Netflix and “I love eating!”  Allie would describe her perfect day as “sleeping in, having waffles for breakfast. After getting ready for the day, she would hang out with Kenna and Nadia, drive around all day and watch movies together!”

“My favorite teacher is Mrs. Park (tpark). She is always there to listen t me when I’m having a bad day and she always gives me great advice. My favorite class is English because I love writing.”

FOOD and FAMILY:

  1. What’s the most unusual food you have ever eaten? Alligator
  2. What’s your favorite holiday and family tradition? Thanksgiving… Everyone comes to my house and we all cook, watch football, play lots of card games, and tell stories from the previous years and “old times”
  3. My hero is my mom because she is always there for me and everyone.  She can be both a shoulder to cry on as well as the voice of reason that tells you to suck it up. She is also my best friend and never fails to make my bad days better.
  4. My favorite family trip was a road trip out to the East coast. We stopped in Washington DC, New York, and we visited  a ton of different places and saw so many landmarks. That was the summer that my brother, Joshua and I, got so much closer and we continue to everyday.
  5. If I could eat only one meal for the rest of my life, it would be Mac n cheese!
  6. What is your favorite childhood memory? Going to my grandmother’s house for Christmas, having family dinner, attending her church, and then opening up presents with the whole family.
  7. What’s your favorite family recipe? vanilla saken cookies, they are my great grand’s recipe and they are just SOOOO good.
  8. “The best thing about my mom is that she is my best friend. You are there for me NO matter what. You have been there for me though the worst times of my life, and also the best. Without you, I have no idea where I would be because you are my role model and best friend. I love you to death and I can not imagine life without you!
Dad.. you are a big teddy bear!  You have taught me so many important life lessons and give the best advice.  You tell me what I need to hear even if i do not want to hear it and i appreciate that more than I let on!  I appreciate the very high standards you have set and that’s a reason why I am who I am today!”

RANDOM:

  1. If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would go to Hawaii because of the beautiful land and beaches and warm weather!
  2. When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a dancer.
  3. My favorite singer is Kane Brown. I love all country music.
  4. Nicknames? Alli or Al
  5. Usual school style? Leggings and a sweatshirt
  6. Favorite clothing store: Nike or Under Armor
  7. I love to sing but I’m not good at it!
  8. Why did you choose Shelby Photography for your senior portraits photographer? I saw your photos on social media an loved them!  I knew from the start that I wanted you to take them.  Your photographs are very clear and the girls look happy and natural!
