Abi Gasper | Delavan High School Class of 2020 senior pictures

August 17, 2019

Meet Abi Gasper, Class of 2020 senior from Delavan High School.  I loved getting to know this confident, easy going, bubbly, sweet, and beautiful girl!

I would also betcha $100 that if you asked her any fun facts about horses, she would know the answer!  Abi is obsessed with horses to say the least!  She  recently told me that on a trip to Lexington, Kentucky, she went to Clairborne Farms with her family and had an amazing tour. (Clairborne Farms happens to be the final resting place of the great race horse, Secretariat) During their visit, one particular horse named Orb, walked out of his pasture for everyone to meet him and pet him.  The tour guide asked the entire group, “Can anyone name the horse that this stallion has been the only one to beat?”  Everyone was dead silent but Abi raised her hand and said the name, Zenyatta! The tour guide pointed towards her and said that she was correct. Amazing!!

This year, she is most looking forward to the school play…. especially, opening night.  The entire cast and crew goes out to Steak n’ Shake afterwards and it’s a lot of fun! Her favorite teacher is Mr. Lutz and “he’s easy to talk to and fun to be around!  I also love history class because I have always loved learning about history, especially my family’s”.  Abi’s favorite school event is Carnival Kickoff!  It takes place during a school day and a start to an intense six weeks. Everyone goes to the gym for a pep rally with anxious anticipation for that year’s theme. Each class picks a couple of people to send out to the floor and depending on that person’s speed, they get first dibs on an envelope that contains the theme for your entire c lass to follow.  Following the pep rally, each class goes to one of their class sponsor rooms and they all brainstorm ideas. “We have come up with a lip sync, food booth, raffle items, and a Class King and Queen to run for Carnival Royalty!”

Abi participates in Drama Club, Track, Volleyball, Swim Team and Science Club. She also enjoys lifeguarding, babysitting, and youth group. Her hobbies include reading, drawing, writing, deer hunting, photography, model horse collecting, and spending time with her family, especially her dog!

I asked Abi to describe her “perfect day” and this is what she she said: “On my perfect day, I would sleep in until around 11:00 am and wake up to hear the soft patter of rain falling.  I’d get out of bed and stay in my pajama’s, which would be an oversized t-shirt with fluffy pajama pants, and I would go and make myself a nice, hot cup of coffee. (About 89% creamer mixed in with complete black coffee is the perfect mixture!)  I’d go and grab my book, whichever one I’d be reading, and go and get comfortable on the couch. I’d cover myself in a big, warm, fluffy blanket, and sit there all day reading… no one interrupting me, and my only movement being the turning of a page, the sip of coffee, or getting up to run back to my room to grab another book to read!”

Three things on Abi’s bucket list include 1. Study abroad 2. Travel the world 3. Own my own horse one day!

Here are some of Abi’s fun facts and favorites:

  1. What’s the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten? Alligator
  2. My favorite family trip was to Myrtle Beach because it was my first time ever stepping foot on to a beach. My entire family went, along with my grandma, aunt, and two cousins. We all shared a condo together and walked down to the beach every day!
  3. What is your favorite childhood memory? Meeting my little sister for the first time!
  4. What’s your favorite family recipe? Angel cake with chocolate Heath frosting! It’s my favorite because my grandma always makes it for anytime one of us is celebrating a birthday at her house.
  5. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Oven baked fajitas!
  6. What is the best thing about your mom?  My mom is the type of person who always treats people the way she wants to be treated, and thus we have my life motto. She’s the type of person who know pretty much everyone, and is always telling stories of when she was younger and growing up. She always greets people with a smile on her face, and her eyes always light up with when she laughs. She’s a really good cook, like all mothers are, but she is always some sort of new recipe that we all HAVE to try. There is this saying that a mothers hug is the best medicine in the world, and it’s very true! Whenever I’m sick, she lets me hug her. Whenever I’m hurt, she lets me hug her. She is always comforting me whenever I am in need of it
  7. Who is your favorite singer and/or band or song? Ed Sheerin, Shawn Mendes, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Jonas Brothers, Pentatonix, One Direction, Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana, AC/DC, Journey, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, the entire Greatest Showman album, the entire Hamilton album, IDOL by BTS, This Town by Niall Horan, Fire Flies by Owl City, Speechless by Naomi Scott, Evermore by Dan Stevens, History Maker by Dean Fujioka…
  8. What are your favorite holiday traditions? During thanksgiving at my aunt and uncles house, us older cousins will always go back to my cousins room and play board games. The first one we always play is The Game of Life! We always try to get it over with before meal is called. During any holiday with family, we’ll make slush! It is a mixture of both lime flavored ice cream and lemon flavored sprite, mixed together to a slushee like texture, served in a cup!
  9. What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done? Gone parasailing out in an ocean
  10. My hero is Sarah J. Maas is my hero because she is an outstanding author who’s written many of the books that I have read and loved! She’s created many empowering characters, the majority of them are female with some type of really strong male character having their backs!
  11. If you could travel any where in the world where would you want to go? I would choose to travel to Japan because from what little anime I’ve watched, I have grown to love the Japanese culture. I want to go to Japan and experience everything first hand, their culture, their foods, shrine visits, and much more!
  12. Why did you choose Shelby Photography for your senior portraits photographer? I love every picture that I’ve seen!
