I’m soooo happy to share senior pictures of my nephew, Matthew McCallen, Class of 2021 senior from Wake Christian High School in North Carolina!   He is the youngest of 4 (all boys) and I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that he is graduating in May.

Our family has always lovingly called him “baby Matthew” (sorry to embarrass you ☺︎ ) and it seems like overnight, he turned into a man.  Watching him grow up and become waaaaay smarter than me, and so darn handsome as been a joy and I am extremely proud of him!  This fall he will be attending, UNC and plans to major in Chemistry/Econ.  When he was a little guy, he wanted to be a school bus driver.

His favorite teacher is Professor Corzo because “she makes learning Spanish fun, and we get to talk during the whole class (in Spanish of course!).  My favorite classes are either Calculus or Spanish because all of my friends are in those classes and we get to make jokes and have fun.”   In school, Matthew has participated in Soccer, Basketball, and Golf. Outside of school, Matthew has played club soccer and volunteers at church.  He also trains young goalkeepers on the weekends.   His hobbies include playing spike ball and going skiing .

Three things on my bucket list: 1. Live internationally 2. Ski in Switzerland 3. Have lifelong friends and a family

Food and Family:

1. What’s your favorite family recipe? Springerles because Grandpa Kaufman loves them.
2. If you could eat only one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?  Chick-Fil-A nuggets with fries and a sweet tea
3. Favorite candy? M&M’s and Reeses
4. Favorite beverage?  Water or sweet tea
5. Most unusual thing you have ever eaten?  Frog legs
6. Do you have any pets?  A dog named Lily
7. What do you love most about your parents? My mom is very caring, and she always brings out the best in me. She is all-knowing and trusting even when I mess up (very rarely)  I can always count on her to be there for me even when things don’t go my way. She never has any doubt that I can succeed at my goals.  My dad is a gear-head, and we share a love for cars and technology. He is very wise in his direction for me and is aware that 500 hp is too much for a 16 year old kid lol. He’ll always love me, and I can trust that he will be calm if I do something stupid.
8. Favorite childhood trip? Hawaii because we got to hangout and see awesome sights.
9. Favorite holiday and tradition?  Christmas.. we open presents on Christmas Eve and everyone is always jealous of me because I get the most.  I love Christmas morning brunch.  I also love Easter egg hunts and Thanksgiving dinner too.
10. What your favorite childhood memory?  Playing hide and seek in Mt. Zion

My “perfect” day would be going skiing and sitting by the fire with friends and family.
