Meet the lovely, fun, sweet, personable, easygoing, and amazingly gorgeous, Makkedah Carbaugh, Class of 2021 senior from Washington Community High School!  After graduation, Makkedah plans on attending Boyce College to major in Education. Her favorite high school teacher was her Child Development teacher, “because she is super nice and sweet. This is also my favorite class because I like being with kids and we have preschool 3 times a week.”

Makkedah has participated on the tennis team her Sophomore, Junior, and Senior year and she was also the assistant for the Fresh/Sop team. She is also on the United Way teen board that meets monthly.  “Outside of school I am very involved in my Youth Group and Church (I attend Bethany Community Church). I go to Youth Group every Wednesday and church every Sunday. I have also done some service projects with my Youth Group. I am on a Sunday School rotation (where I teach kindergarteners), I am a buddy to a child in our church with special needs. For my job, I clean houses and babysit. On average I clean two to three houses a week and babysit one to two times per week.”  Makkedah’s hobbies include baking, cooking, doing calligraphy, and anything else creative.

Her advice to incoming freshman would be: “Don’t worry about what others think…not everyone is watching you ;). College seems like a long ways away but your grades matter and it’s never too early to start looking at colleges or studying for the SAT.”

“My perfect day would be waking up around 9:00 am, shower and put on a cute outfit, next I would go get coffee at Dunkin Donuts with my best friend. Then we would go get our nails done. After we would grab lunch at Panda Express. Then we would meet up with our other friends to go shopping in East Peoria or Grand Prairie. For dinner we would go to Shogun and then come back to my house to hangout and spend the night.”

In Mexico I spent 10 days helping lead an English camp. In Ecuador I spent 8 days with a team helping with a water project. We dug trenches to provide clean water to a community that did not have running water!
  9. I love to travel and serve people. In my free time, I love to shop, hangout with my friends and family, experiment with beauty supplies/products (face masks, hair products, nails, beauty tools, etc.) and bake.
  10. Why did you choose Shelby Photography?  Cindy’s photos are super high quality, clear, and natural. I knew this would be a cool opportunity!
