Liz and Sal are tying the knot on May 19th at The Cannery in Eureka, IL! I couldn’t be more thrilled because Liz is truly like a daughter to me and seeing her soooooo happy makes me ecstatic!
Liz and Sal met at a “wine and cheese” night thrown by one of their fellow medical students. Sal was invited to play the guitar but he mostly sang songs in Spanish. Only a few people understood the songs and she happened to be one of them! Liz has always been fascinated by anyone speaking Spanish and she decided to make a new friend and sat next to him to converse about Latin music. It all grew from there!
“Sal provides such balance for me. I have a tendency to think way too far into the future and get worried over things that I can’t control. He reminds me of what I can accomplish in the present and brings me back down to earth. He’s also an amazing dancer which is one of the reasons I was initially attracted to him!”
“Liz accepts me at my most foolish and at my most serious. She helps slow me down when I get caught up in the moment and helps put my emotions in perspective with the past and future. Plus, she lets me be the nerdiest guy on the block, so that’s fun!”
Liz and Sal are planning on a succulent/cactus theme with teal and blue colors for their wedding day. While Sal will be wearing a mariachi outfit, that will be less a theme and more a not-so-subtle nod to his background. “We are most looking forward to dancing at the reception.”
Liz and Sal are looking forward to watching each other grow and develop as excellent partners and doctors. Fun future plans include puppies, and kittens, and kiddos!
Here is their favorite quote: “We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.”
