Destiny Moreland | Class of 2021 | Washington Community High School senior pictures

January 6, 2021

I’m so not over the beautiful snow and picturesque views that the start of the new year has offered, but I certainly wouldn’t mind a little more sunshine!  So I thought it would be the perfect day to spread a little sunshine with this beautiful girl, Destiny Moreland, Class of 2021 senior from Washington Community High School.  True story, immediately after hair and makeup, the sky turned dark and it poured.  We waited a few minutes and the sun peeked out and provided the most beautiful light and amazing dramatic skies!

Destiny is one smart young woman with a great work ethic.. she currently holds a 3.992 and works 20-25 hrs a week at Monical’s.  She’s not positive where she will be attending college yet, but most likely Mizzou.  Destiny will be majoring in Biology/Pre-Med and her goals is to be an ED physician!  She has wanted to be a doctor since she was a little girl.

Her favorite class is English because she loves writing and “reading is a part of everything that I do. My favorite teacher is Mrs. Miller because she is super nice and always brings fun to the classroom. She cares about her student and she bases learning off of her student’s personal wishes.”  Her favorite school event to attend throughout her high school experience has been Community Night. “It is fun to see the entire school come together, and see the talent and personalities fo the student body. Afterwards, there is a bonfire and it’s a great way to meet new people and hang out with friends.”

On my “perfect day”, I would wake up somewhere near a beach, lay out for a few hours, swim, and then hot tub and watch scary movies.

FOOD and FAMILY

  1. My favorite family trip was to Marco Island, FL last year.  I absolutely loved the resort and the people were so nice. Our entire family went and we were right on the beach and there was so much to do.
  2. My favorite childhood memory is going to the Illinois State Fair with my mom and my cousins. It was one of our bigger family traditions because we lived in Springfield.  I loved the rides and we would go all day long!
  3. My favorite holiday tradition is spending Christmas on the beach, which we have done for the past four years. I also enjoy when my mom, my sisters, and I wear matching PJs on Christmas.
  4. My favorite restaurant is Tequillas.  I love the quest and chips!
  5. If I could eat only one meal for the rest of my life, I would eat the chicken tenders from Portillos with an order of fries and a rootbeer.
  6. My grandma’s red velvet cookies are the best cookies I have ever had.
  7. What’s the most unusual thing you have ever eaten? Oysters
  8. My hero is my mom because she has been through a lot and she raised my sister and I very well. I have always had a good role model, and she raised us partly as a single mother. She has had to take both parental roles and she has done an amazing job at it.  Every good quality that I possess is my from her.

Three things that are on my bucket list are skydiving, going to Paris, and bungee jumping.

I have worked at Monicals as a waitress for a little over a year. I love working there because I have made many friends and I make a lot of money when serving.

RANDOM FUN FACTS:

  1. What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done? Parasailing or Banana Boating
  2. If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would go to France because it is beautiful there, the pictures would be amazing, and the food is different from ours.
  3. My favorite sport to watch is baseball, and my favorite sport to play is volleyball.
  4. My favorite singers are Brett Young, Old Dominion, Thomas Rhett, and Morgan Wallen. My favorite songs are Ticket to LA, Heartless, and Life Changes.
  5. I am an aunt of two adorable twins!
  6. I also have 2 dogs that I love!! I have a french bulldog and a pitbull.
  7. Favorite fashion rends – wearing neon colors, body suits, and high waisted bottoms
  8. I love to wear red because it looks good with my hair and eyes. My usual school style is leggings with a t-shirt or crop top.  My favorite clothing stores are H&M, Apricot Lane, and Urban Outfitters
  9. Why did you choose Shelby Photography for your senior  photographer? I chose Shelby Photography because the pictures are amazing and really stand out. I think that she captures the beauty of each person in a way that is her style, but unique to each individual. I think that she will take my photos in a way that fits me best! I like how clear they are, the focus is only on the senior, and it is unique to each person. I love how pretty the girls are and how they are captured.

I think the hardest part of the pandemic has been how little I am interacting with people on a daily basis. I love talking to people, and now that I’m doing school online, I hardly talk to any outside of school and home. I’m a very social person, so that part of it has been really difficult.  When it’s over, I am looking forward to taking a trip somewhere with my friends. We have been talking about taking trips together for years now and I’m excited for life to get back to normal. I hope that my classes in college will be in person and I will have that social aspect back.  Through the pandemic, I have built a stronger relationship with my family which is important to me especially since I will be leaving for college. I have learned to appreciate everything that I have because it can be taken away… socializing and going out to eat for example. I have been able to prioritize a lot of the important things that I wasn’t before and realize what I actually have do have overall. I’m thankful for the time to bond with my family and get a better understanding of life.
