Meet Olivia Hishon, Class of 2018 senior from Peoria Notre Dame High School. She is one part things sweet, one part sassy, and a big dose of beauty! Her heart is as beautiful as her outward appearance and I am soooooo happy to share her beautiful senior pictures and senior spotlight. You will surely understand why I adore her! Something random and fun about Liv.. she used to read the Oliva the Pig Books and now she had one! I may or may not have begged to take pictures with the pig but she was too muddy. 🐖☺️
Olivia would describe her personality as fun and she likes to be weird ( love this) but she’s a little shy at first! She has an open mind and strives to always find the best in people. “I like to throw kindness around like confetti!” She participates in Teen for Life, St Jude Club, End Animal Cruelty Club, and she is the President of Lumen Christi Earth Club. She loves volleyball and plays the guitar. After high school, she plans on attending college at either the University of Iowa or Kentucky and plans on majoring in the nursing with the goal of working in pediatric oncology. Advice to incoming freshman: “Making sure to realize that you only have four years and they fly by so fast!! I still feel like a freshman!!! Make sure every single moment counts- go to the football games, get involved, go out on the weekends, but always remember your roots and “when you get where you’re going don’t forget turn back around”
Liv would describe her perfect day as sitting on the beach with all her family, pets, and friends drinking raspberry tea, swimming with a dolphin, riding a horse in the water, scuba diving, basically every cool thing you can do at a beach, I would want to have. Oh and lots of food and drinks!!”
She is motivated by the longing for joy and a moment she is most proud of is “When I was on a mission trip last year and a fourth grader told me that he was nervous that we were coming because we do not look the same (he is Haitian) but he told me I am more his family than anyone else and he knows that I love him and that Jesus loves him so everything is all okay. It made my heart happy”.
Olivia loves her family and one of the best things about her mom is that she is a “super mom” Olivia shared that she literally puts everyone before herself and she has never said a word about her selflessness. If she had to name a hero in her life, it would definitely be her mom because she has gone through so much and she still keeps going like “super mom”. Her dad is open-minded and will do anything he can to spend time with Olivia and her sister.. doing things like watching their sports, listening to their music or getting ice cream. “He would even straighten my hair!” Her family’s motto is “Ohana” which means friends are great but family is the only constant you will have throughout your life.
The most unusual thing she has ever eaten is a seasoned bug. The most daring thing she has ever done is ziplined on a mountain the Dominican Republic and if she would travel anywhere in the world, she would go to The Greek Islands. If she could have any superpower, she would love to be able to teleport so that she would get more sleep because she could “zap” where she wanted to be! If she was stranded on a deserted island with only one person, she would choose her dad because he is smart and would now how to get them off the island, “and we work well together.”
Three things on Olivia’s bucket list: 1. Backpack Europe 2. Live somewhere else for a year 3. Go scuba diving
