Meet the lovely Makenna Murphy, Class of 2019 senior from Tremont High School!!  She was a trooper for her senior photos..it was COLD and it actually started to snow!  And not just snow.. a mild blizzard came upon us, LOL.    This was a first, but her pictures turned out beautifully!!  I’m crazy about this girl and her senior photos. 

Makenna would describe her personality as introverted with people when she first meets them but once she gets comfortable, “I won’t shut up! I can be very sarcastic and I love to joke around. I would also say that I am very loyal and would do anything for family or friends.” 

After graduation, Makenna plans on attending ISU to major in Business. This year she looks forward to all of the school dances, especially prom. “I love getting dressed up and going to locations to take pictures with my friends. Especially this year; I just want to make the most of the time that we all have left together.”  Her favorite high school teacher was her freshman and junior year English teacher, Mrs. Wicks. “I don’t even like English that much but she made the class so fun. She made sure we learned about topics we were actually interested in and that we understood the difficult stuff. She was also very sarcastic and liked to joke around and I like to have the relationship with a teacher…. she just made us all feel comfortable.”  Makenna loves attending all of her school’s sporting events.  “I love being with all of my class mates and cheering my team on. But if I had to choose one it would be football for sure. I love the time of year because we can still be outside and the beginning of the year is so fun because we aren’t all tired of school yet. I just love to be with my friends 24/7…. I’ve probably spent so much money on going out to eat and gas money because thats all you can really do in Tremont.”  As far as advice for incoming freshman: “Go to everything and do the most with your friends that you can. You don’t wanna look back and regret not going to homecoming or something like that.  High school truly does fly by and you should really enjoy everything while you can.”

Makenna would describe her “perfect day” like this: “It would probably start with me sleeping in until like 10 because I am not a morning person at all! But I would probably go to breakfast with friends at Denny’s.   Going out to breakfast is my absolute favorite…. can’t think of anything better than pancakes and chocolate milk! Then I would go get my nails done because I’m completely obsessed with having cute nails. After that, shopping because I always want new clothes and shoes.  By that point I would  need a nap because I am a huge napper.  After my nap, I would go to a friends house for a bonfire and listening to music.”

Here are some of Makenna’s fun facts and favorites!

FAMILY:

1. My favorite family trip was a trip with my dad’s side family went on a cruise summer of my sophomore year. There was 13 of us and I’m so thankful my grandparents took us. I loved this trip because there was so much for everyone to do. There was a buffet with all of the food you could think of and it was so good. There was a teen club where I made friends that I still talk to. There are comedy shows and shows with dancing and singing. I just had the time of my life on that trip.
2. My heroes are both of my parents because after they got divorced they made sure that me and my brother were both still being taken care of. Being a single parent is not easy and they both did such a good job at parenting us.
3. The best thing about my mom is that we are basically the same person.  That is both good and sometimes bad  because we are both very opinionated and stubborn 
   The best thing about my dad is  how goofy and funny he is!  He can always make me laugh!
4. My favorite holiday tradition is going to my grandparent’s house in Mason City every Christmas eve. We have done this every year since i was born and I still always am so excited for it every year. We go and eat an unhealthy amount of food… which by the way my family always has the best food to eat. Their living room is literally full of presents because we are all way too spoiled. But i really just spending time with all of my family because we always have so much fun.
5. My favorite childhood memory is every Thursday my dad would take me and my brother to what ever fast food place we wanted and then that night we would go to our friend’s house and they had two boys one my age and one my brothers age and we would all play and mess around and I just have so many good memories about our “fast food Thursdays”

 

FOOD AND STYLE:

1. What’s the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten?I’m a really picky eater so this is hard but I would probably say escargot and it was the nastiest thing ever!
2. What’s your favorite family recipe?My grandma’s cheesy potato soup because its the best on a cold fall and winter day.
3. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?  Pizza hands down!!
4. What is your favorite fashion trend?I really like the sporty chic trend thats happening right now… i also just love wearing big flannels in the fall and of course ripped jeans.   I dont really follow fashion tends that much i just kind of buy what i think is cute… I’m pretty basic though.
5. What’s your favorite color to wear?  I really like to wear red because it goes well with my hair… i also like the like army olive green… I wish I could pull off the mustard yellow that is really in style but it doesn’t go well with my hair.
6. What’s your usual school style?  This is bad but I’m really lazy so I usually just sleep in and wear leggings or nike shorts and a T shirt… i like to dress cute and do my hair and makeup I just don’t have that motivation when it comes to school

 

RANDOM:

1. Name three things that are on your bucket list – I want to have kids. I know it’s a long way away but I’m just so excited to be a mom and spoil my kids
   -I want to to go some type of music festival because they look like such a fun experiece
   -I want to go skydiving!
2. A moment that I am most proud of is when i knew a close friend was struggling with depression and self worth and I helped her though it.
3. Do you have a nickname? Kenna or Sis
4. What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done?  The most daring thing I’ve ever done is jumping off a huge cliff in Colorado with my cousin.
5. If you could travel any where in the world where would you want to go?  I would want to go to Disney World because I went when i was very young and I don’t remember much but I’m just so obsessed with Disney movies and I love rides. It would just be fun to get to relive my childhood again since I’m about to have all these changes in my life.
6. I like watching baseball because I actually know what is going on… Go Cardinals!
   My favorite sport to play is volleyball.
7.  I am the best hula Hooper you will ever meet… I am also extremely good at Mario Kart.
8. Why did you choose Shelby Photography to take your senior portraits?  Because I saw Cindy’s senior pictures  on Instagram and they just look AMAZING… i have been following her for years I just think she does really great work.
