Meet the sweetest…. Erica Smith, G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S Class of 2019 Shelby Senior from Metamora Township High School! Erica is super active in school and participates in Basketball Cheerleading, Peer Coaching for Football Cheer, Student Council, Prom Committee, Homecoming Committee, and Key Club. Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Sudbrink because she puts so much energy into her classroom and I also love the books that she has us read. She loves attending basketball games because she is a cheerleader another is so much energy and school spirit. The activity she is looking forward to the most her senior year is the senior sleeper because it will be the very last time that her whole senior class will be together!
Outside of school she is a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. Erica lost her dad to cancer when she was only 9 months old, so “I felt that I have learned early that family, courage, and not letting the small stuff get to you is very important in life.” That experience has helped me become the person that I am today.” “After high school I want to go to college to pursue a degree in Forensic Psychology with a minor in Criminology. After college, I would love to travel the world and live in New York City for a couple of years. When I finally decide to settle down, I hope to move to the South and buy an old historic home. Lots of dreams to accomplish…”
Advice to incoming freshman – “Don’t be afraid to try new things and make lots of new friends”
Erica would describe her personality as caring, honest, logical, independent, kind, funny, hardworking, ambitious, and a Christian. She loves history, shopping, especially at consignment stores, yoga. big cities, going for coffee, traveling, and being with friends, family, and her dog Rolo. Someday, she would love to travel to Paris because of all of the shopping history, food, and culture!
I asked Erica to describe her “perfect day” – “My perfect day would be waking up in New York and going to breakfast at Mason Keyser and taking it to eat on the lawn in Central Park. Then I would go to lunch and do some shopping. To end the day I would eat at Serendipity and go to a broadway show.”
“My hero is my mom because she has raised me all by herself and has never once complained about it. She always made an effort to make me feel like my family was no different from my friends.”
Three things on her bucket list include: 1. Move to NYC to live for a couple of years 2. Tavel the world 3. Buy an old Victorian home with lots of land
