Meet the beautiful and super sweet, Emily Mowbray, a freshman at IVC!
Yes, I know what you’re thinking.. .. it’s hard to believe she’s only 14! I told Emily during her portrait session that I couldn’t wait for her senior session and her mom said, “I can definitely wait!”
I last took her photograph when she was about 8 years old and she has changed so much. I love, love, love her sweet demeanor and spunky personality!
Emily would describe her personality as kind, funny, optimistic, and outgoing. “I love to see others happy and always try to include everyone. I also would consider myself responsible and smart with my decisions.”
Emily participates in volleyball and Student Council at IVC She loves to show school pride by cheering her team on at football games and gets involved with dances and fundraisers. She has been playing volleyball since 5th grade and looks forward to every game. Emily loves practicing and fine-tuning her volleyball skills but also likes to watch professionals play to help her learn the game even more.
This is how Emily would describe her “perfect day”….My perfect day would start with waking up to a good breakfast after sleeping in and being able to watch Netflix. I be snowing and dark outside. Then I would get ready in my most comfortable outfit and make myself some hot chocolate or a root beer float. After, I would get together with the people I love most including family, friends, and even possibly my boyfriend. We would watch my favorite Christmas movies and genuinely enjoy each other’s company…. without electronics in our way. Then I would end it with a batch of warm chocolate cookies and some Christmas books from my childhood. In my opinion, that is my ideal day!”
If she could travel anywhere in the world, she would go to Paris because she loves the culture including the fashion and atmosphere. “I think it’s pure beauty and it would bring me happiness and peace!” Emily is motivated by observing other people. She learns from watching confident people who work hard to achieve their goals. If she could eat only one meal for the rest of her life, it would choose honey BBQ boneless wings. The person who makes her laugh the most is her best friend, Meagan. She loves watching old videos made by herself and her friends. If she was stranded on a deserted island with only one other person, she would choose someone who was very strong and knew how to hunt but they would also be caring and kind. Something random about herself: “I eat hot pockets cold!”
Something that she is most proud of is ” being my own person and standing up to people who try to control who I am. I am still trying to work on it, but I have come a long way since even before summer has started, and I an very proud of myself.”
Three things on her bucket list: 1. Travel to three different countries 2. Marry the love of her life 3. Graduate from a University
I asked Emily who her hero was and this is what she said: “My hero is my mom because she has raised me as a single mother while going through losing two jobs. I know it is not easy raising me, especially all by herself, but she did an incredible job. She has taught me so much in such a short amount of time and I know she will teach me even more throughout my life. My mom is that I know she always wants the best for me and believes in me no matter what.”
