Meet the beautiful, outgoing, funny, driven, super- smart, senior… Kaylie Hammel from East Peoria High School! After graduation, she plans on pursuing a career in nursing. And it’s time to brag….she has been accepted into Iowa Wesleyan with an invite for the prestigious Presidential full scholarship award, Indiana with an academic scholarship and now the University of Louisville’s Honor’s Program with a 40k scholarship offer AND was accepted into their nursing program! Her opportunities are endless and her nurturing, caring personality will make her an amazing nurse. ☺︎
Kaylie’s favorite teacher is Mr. Yang because, “he is super funny and understanding. My favorite class is English because I love to write!” She is involved in many school activities including Tennis, Basketball, Student Council, Link Crew, and Key Club. Her favorite school event to attend football games because “there are so many people supporting the school and it’s a fun atmosphere.” Kaylie also achieved her CNA certification and does co-op this year.
Outside of school, she volunteers for VBS at her church, packs boxes for Operation Christmas Child, babysits, helps teachers decorate their classrooms, and works at Dairy Queen!!
“My favorite day would be spent at the beach with my best friends and just relaxing without a worry in the world!”
Three things on my bucket list include traveling to different parts of the world, helping others who are not as fortunate as me, and pursuing a career in nursing. I dream of eventually working behind the scenes doing research for medical procedures and such.
The Spring Generational Themed Session was my favorite because we didn’t have updated pictures with my mom and sister and I love showing people how similar we look.”
My hero is my dad because he has overcome so much in his life and has become such a good person because of it. The best thing about my dad is that he can fix anything and he is always willing to spend time with me. The best thing about my mom is that she is the life of the party, she always has a positive attitude, and she puts others before herself.
A moment that I’m most proud of is helping my grandma when she wasn’t feeling well and dedicating my time to her.
My favorite family trip was to Colorado because my grandma moved there, and it was awesome to see the house they built and there was so many different things to do in Colorado.
I have 3 dogs. 2 beagles: Clyde and George. As well as one yorky-poo named Bentley!
If I could eat only one meal for the rest of my life, it would be any type of chicken, potatoes, corn, and cheesecake for dessert!
My favorite drink is strawberry lemonade. My favorite candy is Jolly Ranchers, and Reece’s.
Olive Garden is my favorite restaurant. I always get the Fettuccini Alfredo.
Christmas is my favorite holiday. My entire family gets together to watch Christmas movies, decorate cookies, and decorate trees!
