Sydney Greim | Washington Community HS Class of 2019 senior pictures

October 4, 2018

Meet the sweet and bubbly, blue-eyed and amazingly beautiful Class of 2019 senior, Sydney Greim from Washington Community High School!

Syd would describe her personality as motivated, extroverted, and empathetic. ” I really enjoy getting to know new people and overcome challenges.”  After high school she plans on attending college and wants to become a neonatal nurse! When she was a little girl, she wanted to be a veterinarian.

One of her favorite highlights from her senior year so far was Homecoming and the Homecoming parade.  She got out of school early to line everyone up and it was so fun to see so many people from the community getting excited for all of the festivities.  Sydney also loved Inside Panther Night which start off with a volleyball scrimmage and getting announced before the football scrimmage at the start of the season. “It’s such a fun way to start the year and fall sports!”  Sydney is a setter for the volleyball team and also participates in Track and Field.   She is the President of the senior class as well as a member of the Student Council, National Honor Society, Pep Club, and Washington Leadership and Community Service Club. “I enjoy volunteering for numerous events in the community through Leadership Club such as the WHIP food drive and Washington Clean Up Day.”

“My favorite classes are Child Development with Mrs. Fillman and U.S. History with Mr. Schermerhorn. I love Child Development because we run our own preschool and I love getting to interact with and teach so many fun little kids.  I love U.S. History because Mr. Schermerhorn gave the class a new perspective on so many historical events and really challenged me as a student.”  As for advice to incoming freshman: “My best piece of advice would be to get involved with as many activities as you can. Feel free to try new things and experiment. You will not want to regret not trying out for a sport, joining the band, or auditioning for the musical four years later. You build some of your closest friendships through the activities you are involved in.”

Sydney would describe her perfect day like this: “My perfect day would be waking up early in Florida and going to the beach to see the sun rise over the ocean. Then eating pillsbury cinnamon rolls before lathering up in sunscreen and spending the day at the beach. My family, best friend, and I would leave the beach around noon to eat a quick lunch before going swimming.  After swimming, we would go back home and eat ice cream, shower, and get ready to go out to eat at a restaurant overlooking the beach!”

Three things on my bucket list: 1. Be a mom 2. Travel 3. Learn how to surf  (not necessarily in that order!)

Family:

  1. My hero is my mom because she always finds a way to fix EVERYTHING. She can fix anything that I manage to physically break, but even just a hug from her can fix any emotional problem.
  2. My favorite family holiday tradition aside from the Fourth of July is going to church every Christmas Eve then reading The Night Before Christmas before going to bed.
  3. My favorite childhood memory is when my sister, Hope and I held a wedding for our dog
  4. What is the best thing about your parents?  They always find a way to make me laugh, even when I am trying to be mad at them and trying as hard as I can not to crack a smile
  5. Favorite family holiday tradition? My favorite holiday tradition for the Fourth of July is going to Two25 in Peoria to eat at a buffet and then go to the fireworks with my family.
  6. My favorite family trip was to Blue Mountain Beach, Florida because the ocean and sand there are so beautiful and the vacation was so relaxing and a much needed escape from the stress back home.

Food and Style:

  1. What’s the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten? Nothing… I am a really picky eater LOL
  2. What’s your favorite family recipe? Carmel popcorn because my grandpa always made it whenever my sister and I stayed at my grandparent’s house.
  3. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Spaghetti
  4. What is your favorite fashion trend? I love off the shoulder tops and sundresses.
  5. What’s your usual school style? Running shorts/leggings and a T-shirt/crewneck
  6. What’s your favorite color to wear? I really like wearing red because I think it looks good with my hair and skin color. I also like wearing blue or green because it make my eyes pop.

Random:

  1. What is a moment you are most proud of? One of my proudest moments was donating blood. I thought this was such a cool experience and a simple way to help out that doesn’t really cost anything!
  2. Do you have any nicknames? Syd, Sydie, Sydo, or Syda
  3. If you could travel any where in the world where would you want to go? I would travel all around Europe. I want to visit Spain, Italy, Germany, England, Greece, and France. I love the culture of these places and want to see various monuments in each place.
  4. What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done? Staying alive from age 1-3! I was a very hard to control toddler and almost fell out of a second story window and got ran over by a car.  (I am very very accident prone!)
  5. I am borderline germaphobic and will NEVER let anyone drink off my drink or eat off my plate.
  6. Who is your favorite singer and/or band or song?  If I Were A Boy by Beyonce
    ANYTHING Disney
Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood
    Anything from the Hamilton soundtrack
  7. Why did you choose Shelby Photography for your senior portraits photographer?  I love the senior portraits that I have seen from Shelby Photography and many people have suggested that I do it not only for the pictures, but also the experience.  I love how each senior’s personality can be seen through their pictures. Shelby Photography does a good job of expressing each person’s individuality through the photographs.
