Katie | Washington Community High School | Class of 2018

September 26, 2017

Meet the B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L Class of 2018 senior, Katie Reichel from Washington Community High School.  Her senior session was an incredible, fun-filled adventure complete with crazy gorgeous hair/makeup, stunning fashionable outfits, and a dip in the water for some of my very favorite pictures.   Check out this senior film by Hoop House Creative!!  They offer a creative film package called LOOK and this film package can be added to anyone’s senior session with Shelby Photography.

Katie would describe her personality as outgoing, adventurous, energetic, loyal, optimistic, and driven!   When she was a little girl, she wanted to be a teacher but now she wants to attend Michigan State after high school to study law.   She is super active in school and participates in volleyball, soccer, Exec Board, Pep Club and Fitness Club.  She is part of  Washington Leadership and community service and also served as team captain for the fitness fair last Spring.  Advice to incoming freshman: “Push yourself to do your very best, don’t get involved in petty drama, and life is 1000x better if you get involved!”  A moment she is most proud of was during her freshman year. There was a student in her English class that could barely speak English and she knew some Spanish because she took five years of Spanish starting in grade school so he was her partner for every project and now they are still Facebook friends!

She has played volleyball for 9 years and just started soccer this past Spring. She loves to watch football and basketball and her favorite college team is Michigan State but she also loves the Bulls because one of her former Spartans, Denzil Valentine plays for them!  She’s also a huge Detroit fan!  Katie loves yoga, green tea, and her two dogs, Jojo and Jasper!

Katie would describe her perfect day as waking up early so she would have time to read and have the whole ay ahead of her.  She would go to someplace tropical and start out hiking, followed by sight-seeing and shopping.  Katie would definitely spend the afternoon on the beach and then watch the sunset while eating a big bowl of fruit!

I asked Katie if she had any hidden talents – “I was told that I’m very good at reading personalities and I know this sounds a little crazy but sometimes I have dreams and then the next month… the dream I had happens!!”

The most daring thing she has ever done is complete a high ropes course and zip lining after, fun!!  Three things on her bucket list include: 1. Riding an elephant in Thailand 2. Skydiving 3. Traveling to Scotland to see the Fairy Pools

One of the most influential persons in Katie’s life would have to be Adam Miller from Maxfit who has been her trainer for the past two years. “He always uses me to do my best and expects a lot out of me”

Who is Katie’s hero? “My hero would definitely be my nanny meme. She babysat me almost every day when I was little and she has taught me so much and has had an amazing impact on my life!”

Here are some of Katie’s favorites:

  1. Family Holiday Tradition – Going to Michigan and staying in the same house every year for Christmas
  2. Childhood Memory – Going to Meme’s house with all of her friends, swimming, riding bikes, riding horses and four wheeling
  3. Family recipe = Grandma’s homemade rolls
  4. Favorite meal – Grilled chicken and broccoli
